Preslav Lefterov with the EMT 950 and McIntosh MC7200

The Bureau

Machine Age opened in Pittsburgh in 2004 as an analog recording studio, founded by Preslav Lefterov, Joseph Bartolotta and Cary Belback. The studio has changed shape and purpose since, but it taught us how to keep music equipment alive. Engineers who have worked there include Shawn Rudiman, Chase Smith, Dave Cerminara and Ryan McGinley.

For more than 20 years we had to fix most of the machines and instruments in our studios ourselves. APARAT, the Electroacoustic Bureau, puts that experience to work for you, especially if you're in or around Pittsburgh, where people who can repair old equipment are rare. Preslav and Joe do the work, with Chase and Shawn advising on projects.
